Ceramic dinnerware now on the market is almost labeled with “microwave fit”, but this does not mean that it will be really safe to use in the microwave and oven. Ceramic plates and bowls produced by regular manufacturers are qualified in raw materials and techniques, which can be generally put into microwave ovens and ovens. However, it should be noted that the colored ceramic bowl better not be heated in them. Also, those ceramic dinnerware with gold rim is dangerous to heat, otherwise it may cause gold powder to melt and contaminate food. It will be bad for our health. By the way, ceramic fresh out of the fridge, won’t heat up either.
Can you put ceramic plates in the oven?
1.Theoretically, ceramic plates can go into the oven. Because ceramics are fired at high temperatures, they can withstand the heat of the oven. But please kindly note that using ceramic plates in the oven requires that the food must not be airtight, such as eggs.
2.Ceramic plates are made of clay fired at 1000 degrees centigrade and can withstand 1000 degrees centigrade. But the heat transfer function is poor, the heat is not too uniform (the thickness of each part of the porcelain bowl is different), its heat rate is not as fast as the metal mold. Ceramic plates with multicolored glazes may not be safe after being exposed to high temperatures in the oven. Suggest to use white China, which is not with too much decoration.
3.If it is inferior ceramic, then the colored glaze on it may not be very safe. Toxic spills of heavy metals may occur if placed in an earthenware oven.
4.Heat ceramic plates in the oven is not recommended. Because oven has special bowl and dish commonly, from which is easy to separate after baking. For ordinary ceramic plates, the material has no guarantee, and may crack or even explode.
Can a porcelain bowl fit into a microwave oven?
1.Porcelain bowls can be heated in the microwave. But many porcelain bowls are decorated with a gold rim for beauty. Such a porcelain bowl is not to be put into the microwave oven. It may cause gold powder to melt and contaminate food.
2.The main raw material of ceramics is kaolin. Kaolin is non-toxic, low microwave medium consumption, ceramics made from this kind of kaolin can be put into microwave ovens. Some ceramics are made of kaolin doped with metal impurities, not suitable for microwave oven containers. If placed in the microwave oven, it may be toxic and cannot be used.
3.Frozen ceramics cannot be immediately put into the microwave oven. If you just take out of the refrigerator ceramic, ceramic ware immediately into the microwave is likely to be due to the temperature change too fast and burst. It is recommended to place it indoors to room temperature and then put it into the microwave oven.
4.Colored ceramic bowls are not recommended for microwave heating. Because the high temperature may make the pigment in the heavy metal precipitation, harmful to the human body. Especially inferior ceramic bowl, its raw material and craft are not guaranteed, may produce more serious harm.
